One of the most exciting events of my childhood was being able to go to camp. Sleepover camp was even better because I got to be out of my house and away from my parents, particularly my mom, for an extended period of time.

My mom didn’t like me as a child. She never said it, but her lack of affection or praise spoke to me loud and clear.
